My Sister's Surgery

My sister Melissa will be having surgery this Tuesday morning to remove the tumor they found. So far the news has been that it's benign, but Mayo wanted more tissue to do more testing. The drs decided that surgery is the best way to go right now. Because the tumor is located between her lung and heart, they will be going in through the sternum... just as they would for open-heart surgery. For those who want to, please pray that it goes well, and that the news continues to be good. Thank you!

*Her surgery is scheduled for 7:30 am tomorrow. I wish so badly I could be there with her, but
she is 8 hours away from me. I love you, Little Miss, and will be praying for you all day!!!

Love you, sis! And Missy loves you, too. Can't wait to hear that all is well after her surgery. Be hanging at home with Baby Audrey til I get the news.

Praying for your sister and your family. I hope that as each day passes you find the peace and hope you are looking for. From reading your blog, it sounds like you are very strong in your faith, which we all need, every day.

Bless you!

i hope you check this before surgery - i just got it. my friend went home with lots of pain medicine but has such a strong spirit and determination that she is doing well. went home about a week after surgery and went to lunch a few days later and was going to try and go to church that sunday. her recovery will be long, tho, i think. they removed quite a bit of her diaphragm but i don't know if it was like open heart surgery or not. she still hasn't heard the final FINAL results from harvard but the doctors are 'cautiously optimistic" that it truly is a benign inflammatory fibrous tumor. i am going to give this site address(and email if it is on here) to her cousin who she lives with. her cousin is a friend of mine and has been in touch with me frequently with details. immediately after surgery (several days) she was really in a LOT of pain and it took a while to orchestrate and manage her meds. just know that that may be the case but it will ease gradually i'm sure. i will be praying for melissa and for you as well. i know you are anxious and concerned and i know how difficult it is being so far away from her.

i know april 4th was not an easy day for you; you're in my prayers as i know that grieving takes a while - much longer than those who haven't experienced it realize.
